The city of Puno is located in a picturesque place of a bay of the Sacred Lake of the Inca " Titikaka ", it is the lake more high and navigable of the world whose breast probably inhabited the oldest culture in America, exist a legend that says of its waters emerged Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo to found the great empire of the Inca. Puno also shows the denomination of capital of the Peruvian folklore with more of 300 dances. It’s located 3827 m.a.s.l. whose climate is dry and cold, with a temperature average of 9 oC. In their islands and the banks it harbors a natural landscape of incomparable shades. The department of Puno was headquarters of one of the most important cultures in the Pre-Inca time; the culture Tiwanaku whose archaeological remains cause great admiration. Later on the Inca culture and the colony left very beautiful and interesting works. Starting from the city of Puno two very different ethnic groups are divided; The AYMARAS to the South and The QUECHUA ones to the north, each one with their own native language and customs. | ||||||
